on the right here, 19-year-old dzhokhar tsarnaev. the two had been living in this country for at least ten years. the fbi released video and pictures of the suspects seen carrying backpacks believed to have contain explosives. the man in the dark cap is dead. the man in the white hat is still at-large >>> we are hearing from an eyewitness in watertown. andrew kitzenberg being evacuated from his home. he said he saw two men taking cover behind an suv firing shots at officer 70-80 yards down the street. he also saw the men using explosives. >> i was about 35, 40 feet away. it looked to resemble a pressure cooker, what i've seen from other pictures online in the last few days. i saw them light this bomb. they threw it toward the officers. it only got maybe 15-20 yards down. it wasn't very close to the officers. it really created a significant decoy. there was smoke that covered our entire street. at that point, one of the shooters ran toward the officers while still engaging in gunfire. while he was still shooting at them, a few seconds later, the second shooter got back into the suv and turn

the white cap, his younger brother, a 19-year-old man named dzhokhar tsarnaev. we heard from our reporter, terry mcsweeney who is saying the police presence is overwhelming, because they are so concerned about how dangerous they consider him. we heard an nbc terrorist consultant refer to him as a tier one terrorist. that being the worst kind of terrorist, referring to him as a bomb-chucker. one of these men were seen lighting and throwing a bomb at police last night during the shootout. there are apparently bombs that have not been detonated that are littering one of the streets in watertown. there are concerns that he is armed with a gun and has bombs. not only have they asked people to shelter in place in watertown, cambridge, other surrounding neighborhoods. they have asked them to shelter in the city of boston themselves. this is the warning just issued moments ago by the governor of massachusetts. >>> it is a serious situation. we are asking the public to take it seriously as well. with this law enforcement by following those simple instructions. we've got every asset that we can pos

to kill people. rter: law enforcement custody. officers are going do to door looking for dzhokhar tsarnaev. they say he is armed and extremely dangerous. >> we are asking you to stay indoors, to stay in your homes, for the time being. >> reporter: the other suspect is reportedly tsarnaev's brother. he is now dead. events started late thursday night with reports of gunfire on the m.i.t. campus. >> an officer has been shot. >> reporter: a campus police officer was killed in the exchange. they then reportedly stole a car at gunpoint and headed to watertown. that's where police caught up with them and a gunpoint ensued. they caught up with them at 2 a.m. in watertown, massachusetts. officers say the men opened fire and even through improvised bombs at them. >> during the course of that pursuit, several explosive devices were discharged from the car at the police officers. >> reporter: a transportation police officer was hit during the gunpoint and is at the hospital in critical condition. one of the suspects was killed. susan mcginnis, cbs news, boston. >>> here's another look at the suspects

the suspect might be. the suspect who we're looking -- who they're looking for is named dzhokhar tsarnaev. this is his picture. dzhokhar tsarnaev. he is originally of chechen origin. he's lived here quite a long time. he and his brother came here many, many years ago. his brother, tamerlan, with the same last name, he was killed overnight in the shootout we've been talking about with police that john miller just laid out for us in watertown. so they have not found the younger brother yet. he is believed to be heavily armed, perhaps carrying explosives. he's obviously proven to be dangerous. and right now there is just a full-court press trying to find out where he is because until they can neutralize him, there is a potential that the threat goes forward because we don't know what else, if anything, he might have planned or have been up to. and also at the same time, on another channel, investigators are trying to find out if these two brothers were simply working together as a small two-man cell or if they were working with something larger. at this point we have no evidence of anyone el

, the one they are still trying to find now, dzhokhar tsarnaev was born in kyrgyzstan. his family lives in russia and we're told his father was a public official there at one time. the reason we're told for this extraordinary security in the area of watertown is, of course, because they still don't know where the other of the two brothers, the second bomber is located. they think they know where he is. they believe that's the place they have surrounded and where you just saw kerry sanders reporting but there's a further concern that these two brothers may have had af coccomplices an authorities found another bomb in boston. a device in the charles gate area. they rendered it safe but they are concerned there maybe accomplices. they can't be certain of it. but there's a concern there maybe accomplices at large. you put all of those factors together, and we're told that's the reason for the extraordinary security. there's been a report that one accomplice tried to escape on a train to connecticut. that the train was stopped. we believe now that this is not the case. savannah? >> pete will
